bob is Northern Irish, which whether he like's to admit it or not makes him part Irish which obviously means his recommendations in drinking should be respected.
Now myself, being the full Irish (hands up who got the breakfast pun?) you would imagine, naturally I would be a connaisseur of all alcoholic refreshments...
You would be mistaken, the Irish are not connaisseur's of alcohol, merely we are over consumers of alcohol. Occasionally we may impress you with our elaborate drink orders but this is a feeble attempt on our behalves to convince the outside world that we do know a little something about booze, but alas no.
Our primary concern when it comes to drinking? What is the quantity required to make our depressing lives, partly due to the overly depressing weather, somewhat bearable via the mechanism of knocking ourselves out with drink.
This is why we, along with the Scottish, who some say are even more miserable gits than ourselves, are masters of Whiskey distillation. Whiskey is one of the surest ways to get completely hammered. Now if you want to really forget a few days I'd recommend some Poitin (it would be akin to moonshine) the real stuff is illegal in Ireland due to the alcoholic percentage varying from 60-90% It's been known to leave a man blind for a few days. You can purchase a lighter version legally which has about 45% but it's not the real thing
Now as for "beer's", well we mostly have stout's, the big one's being Guinness, Murphy's and Beamish. Also popular would be Cider's, the big one is Bulmer's, known outside Ireland as Magner's. I don't drink any stouts and have never even drank more than a pint in total of any stout. Cider's I used to drink, a great refreshing drink on a hot day, so that's about twice a year I'll drink that
Beer I really don't drink much, I prefer to drink whiskey or vodka mixed with something or shots if the aim is to become inebriated. I have quite the tolerance, my record is 27 vodka and orange's over the space of 6/7 hours and I walked home, drunk but not embarrassingly drunk. I don't drink much to be honest, every 3 weeks or so, just because it actually doesn't interest me and costs way to much to get the benefits from it.I wouldn't ever drink that much often, only if a challenge is laid down. A 2 litre bottle of coke and I'll be grand.
As for beer, I'd drink Heineken mostly, I just won't enjoy it much but it's better than Pissweiser.
To be honest, I'd much rather have some coke.
