Not bad, but should have been great.

I rented this film with no expectations, but for some reason I found it a bit jarring from the beginning. The actors were too good looking, and from the get go we know at least three of them are corrupt (the fake news piece). I get it, we always have "pretty" people in the lead roles, but geez, all four of the main characters were like super models and the father was way too young looking to be the father of Jill. I know there was some dialogue to try and set that he was at least likely in his late 30's at most, but still.

I enjoyed the premise, and the minimal sets, but one scene really killed it for me.

When David is trying to hold down Lauren after she is possessed by the witch near the lake. The witch, says that the dad pulled the plug early on the mom. And the daughter spazzes out and screams she hates her dad and runs off. Really? After everything that has happened and you know you're dealing with an evil entity and this is how a college/world traveling girl reacts in such a situation? It was actually comical.

Anyway, take out that scene, and recast the father I think you would have a much better film. Despite the things I nitpick about above, I still enjoyed it.

Prove it! Prove that you knew from the start the dad and daughter would be the last two standing. You are commenting after the fact of watching it now knowing all the facts so you will never be able to prove it which makes your comment weightless.

I knew he father and daughter would be the last two left because the movie starts with the dad leaning against the door with her begging him to let her out-just the way it ended. I didn't think they were trying to hide it from us.

Actually no. I just saw the movie, and no, he's just leaning toward the doors, but no one is begging him to let him\her go. Something is just banging on the door and that's it.

and to OP@ Yeah, I didn't have any expectations for it, I actually thought it was gonna be pretty bad, but it ended up being ok...ish. It had the usual problems that keep plaguing horror movies and it could have been more original (in the end, it's just a possession movie even tho thing that possesses is not that common in horror movies anymore)

Ok for one watch, but I wouldn't miss too much if I didn't see it.

The actors/actresses good looks always seem to be a problem for some, which I don't get seeing as how in "real life" there are in fact plenty of beautiful people. So, why in the world should a movie not be able to have a cast of beautiful people playing the roles of the film's characters?

Some movies have ordinary, average looking folks, some movies have unattractive people, some have beauties, and some have a mixture. This movie had more beauties, than not, and IMO, each were perfectly capable of handling their roles in this film.

I know this movie has been slammed by some, and been dogged out as just being no good, but as I said I really enjoyed it for several reasons apart from just the characters, and the actors/actress who played the roles. I thought the movie had a very nice, eerie, even a doomed feeling, from nearly the onset, and the old inn fit perfectly as the backdrop of the film.

Yea maybe the premise isn't some brand new, never-been-seen plot(but fact is slim to none films do have new, original plots). IMO, the film accomplished what it set out to do, and be. A nice little horror flick.

While I agree 100% that David Facinelli looked WAY too young to be Jill's dad, what I found so jarring was how I kept getting the characters confused!
There were too many, for one thing, and several of them LOOKED EXACTLY ALIKE!

I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.

The dad mentioned in the car that he and his wife had Jill when they were 18 years old. Of course he would be a very young dad. And some people just age well.

However, the reason I didn't like this film is because the evil entity had a ton of powers yet locking it behind a wooden door can keep it confined? Really? Stupid......... that ruined it for me. Other than that the idea was good, acting wasn't bad, but it could have been way better.

Carlisle doesn't age, so...

Anyway, Peter Facinelli was 40 in this so he was definitely old enough to be her dad. He just looks damn good.
