Twin Peaks

Anyone else feel a kind of vibe gotten from the Elseworld idea and activities surrounding it reminded them of Twin Peaks. Eva reminded me of the Laura Palmer archetype, a tragic pretty young female figure who was in touch with the Other in a dangerous relationship. Also Deadly Premonition, which was inspired by Twin Peaks, is an example of a game that takes mundane things and life and make them novel. Btw, I'm not saying it's derivative, because all stories deal with tropes and archetypes, which isn't a criticism in itself.. it's how they're written.

Also, I wonder if Augmented Reality AR tech will allow for more interesting and meaningful stories and experiences for players. Another tech on the horizon is Oculus Rift, which is tethered at the desktop computer, but could allow virtual experiences. In the future, there may be wireless versions that take the real physical world and map over it, VR/AR.

I definitely got the Laura Palmer thing. Eva and Laura hit pretty close to home with me-I know people like that.

I think that it's interesting how some people always keep their sense of wonder, adventure, and of play, complete with the mystery and darkness. I try to do that myself. It is a spark that reminds us that the world is amazing, scary, insane and wonderful.

The thoughest part is remembering how to hold on to it.
