Can someone please answer? If Sam's dad was the doctor's husband, and he died when he fell down the stairs in the beginning of the movie, who was Sam arguing with, and who was the b/f talking to when he went to her house???
shareI'm assuming that that Sam's mother was married also. Perhaps that's why the father hated her so much - she wasn't his.

Ahh. Ok. Thanks! Well at least that assumption would explain it. I usually love movies like this , that leaves things open for the audience to decide. But, this script makes the audience work too much. IMHO.

A lot was left unanswered..... you had to draw your own conclusions..... so diapointed in the end to a movie that had so much potential....
I believe Sams mother was also with someone when she had the affair.
She did say he changed in the way he treated her when her mother just disappeared obliviously he blamed the daughter and took it all out on her probably turning to drink when then became abusive.... But again we have to guess like so many times in the film!!!
