why was this shot as a found footage film?

nothing about this film makes it feel like a found footage type movie. the body language of everyone is not how people would act in real life, the script is obviously written in a way a script would be delivered in a normal type movie, hell, there's even music playing in the background to make a scene more intense or to give it some kind of emotion. ti west shouldve just shot this as a normal movie instead of shoehorning his way into a worthless and overdone movie genre

Who the hell was filming when all the cult members were drinking the coolaid? or was it the crazy blonde chick having stolen one of the cameras? IF she was it wasn't immediately obvious (unless I missed something).

It was Caroline filming toward the end as it was happening. Just before that scene, it showed Father telling her to pick up the camera and film what was about to happen. He said it was important or something. Later it showed her setting the camera down again when she went to Patrick in Father's office.
