Cage's Accent

Being an honest to God, born and bred 9th generation Texan, I'm always listening to the accents of actors who try to portray Texans and/or southerners.

I have to admit, Nic Cage did a fine job of emulating an East Texas accent. With him being an Italian life-long California boy, I think it is a testament to his fine acting chops. Of course, I'm sure it helped he was totally surrounded by Texans all over the place and in the cast which allowed him to study their speech patterns and such. It's obvious he paid attention to them.

I recently watched a movie with Cameron Diaz (Gambit) who completely ruined the movie with her horrid fake over the top Texas accent.

Just thought I'd compliment Nic Cage on his great acting job, wonderful movie and he made it that much more enjoyable.

It was a helluva lot better than his cartoonish Alabama accent in Con Air.
