Bond movies have always been “woke”

FFs Spy Who Loved Me had a female spy agent, and that was back in 1977. Goldeneye had a female M chewing Bond out. Bond films have always been woke

reply

you do not know what woke means.
just having a female lead or other female characters in a movie does not make it woke

No, that's not the problem. Diverse casting, female power chars were always there and welcome. Look at Star Trek: Voyager - imo the best Star Trek of them all - had a female captain, female engg chief, female astrophysicist and most powerful char physically, female spiritual super power alien, asian lt, black vulcan, native american first officer etc. and people loved it - not because of diversity or "woke" then, but because it did not matter.

They didn't have cringey dialogs like women are better than men or 110lb 5'2" women thrashing 230lb 6'3" men easily etc. and did not rub their diversity or gender in your face as if that is what their predominant defining characteristic was.

No! it was about the story and selecting the cast that rounded that story. If it happens to be all white, so be it, all black, so be it, a mix, so be it. Whatever the background, gender, ethnicity etc. was always secondary and mostly irrelevant unless it highlights something cool or unique about it without putting anyone else down.

Today, that kind of storytelling isn't there because everyone is super in a "right to be offended" mode. McEnroe says sensible things about Osaka and people have a shit fit. (I mean, 90% people didn't even read what he said because if they did, they'd see he was perfect in his comment and it wasn't mean, but quite the opposite. And even if mean, so what? why the need to throw a temper tantrum against him publicly that way?). Everyone has an opinion today and it is all to stifle people from speaking to the point you're afraid to even have a normal conversation lest you joke or say something that offends the other and then you're done. One and done idiocy exists today.

We don't want that in Bond. We want Bond to be Bond - because he is a male fantasy which is healthy and no a social documentary about ideal society.

Star Trek: Voyager is NOT the best ST of them all. But that has nothing to do with wokism - but rather crappy actors/writing.
There are plenty of great female actors who had to commanding aura as well as charisma - Kate Mulgrew had zero charisma and her acting skills were questionable as well. Heck, it's not just her - most of the actors on that show had very little, if any, charisma/acting skills.

You're opinion is different and wrong in my opinion. ST: Voyager is the best ST of them all.

Best or not are all relative. Your best is not my best etc. So when anyone says they like something or hate something, it is always relative from their opinion. There is no universal best or worst.

So, ST: Voyager is the best of them all. Kate Mulgrew acted really well and unlike other ST Captains, actually grew in her 7 years leading the crew back and you could see that char development. There was also a sense of larger purpose instead of aimless wandering around the galaxy so it was great. They made friends, enemies along the way and expanded the Federation KB. IMO it had the best full Vulcan (Spock is 1/2 vulcan) and best doctor and best addon char in 7of9.

S6E2 Blink of an Eye is the best ST episode of all ST episodes ever. Just watch it and see how awesome it is. It is the episode you use to get people into scifi.

Fair enough - like you said, it's all a matter of opinion/taste.

Not even close and boy I can see it now: We are going to have more pathetic excuses by the SJW crowd for NTTD's overcompensating wokeness much like we had after The Force Awakens (well Luke never trained either, Indiana Jones must be a Mary Sue also because he always beats the bad guy and gets the girl, etc.)

What Woke about a guy who sleeps with every women he sees. Isn't the height of toxic masculinity and doesn't the series promote the Males Gaze. Come on.
