After listening to it quite a few times on release day, I have not listened to it even once since. I am listening to other Bond music on a near-daily basis, but I had already forgotten that this song even exists. It's easily the worst and most forgettable Bond theme ever.

The song has indeed made little impact beyond 'heres the new bond song'.. obviously the delay of the movie has added to it but if whatsherface kind of fizzes out more between now and November maybe the Bond producers will get someone else more hip or established (they've probably already got a bunch of alternative songs from various artists anyway, the ones they didn't chose - as seen with Radioheads Spectre).. then simply push whatshername's to the end credit song (as happened with KD Langs Tomorrow Never Dies - which was meant to be the main song and was written with David Arnold and incorporated his film score and was far superior to Sheryl Crows ditty but missed out as Crow was hot and straight )
shareLang's song is okay on its own, but would have sounded completely out of place in the title sequence. It doesn't have the right tone for a Bond song. It's fine where it is in the end credits.

shareI don't follow popular music at all, but hasn't she been a pretty big star for a few years now? I don't think she will fizzle out that quickly. She should have already had her 15 minutes of fame, but she is inexplicably still popular and will continue to be for some time.
As bad as the song is on its own, it is probably perfect for the shitty movie that this will end up being. It's dark, slow, boring, and 'emo'. That's absolutely perfect for a Daniel Craig 'Bond' film.
You have a good point. Craig's Bond movies have always followed the pattern of their theme song.
Casino Royale: Theme Song "You Know My Name"=AWESOME! Movie = AWESOME!
Quantum of Solace: Theme Song "Another Way to Die" = SUCKY. Movie = SUCKY.
Skyfall: Theme Song of the same name = Great! Movie = Great!
Spectre. Theme Song "Writing's on the Wall" = PUTRID CRAP. (Oscar judges who named it "Best Song" must have been smoking some good stuff) Movie = PUTRID CRAP.
"No Time to Die" Theme Song = Meh. MOVIE = .......
I thought Skyfall sucked ass. The worst of of the Craig era IMO despite it being inexplicably the most overrated of any Bond Film.

shareThe worst thing about Skyfall was it introduced annoying hipster Q. Then the first half that copied the Dark Knight and a second half that copied Home Alone. Other than that, the movie was all right.

Honestly, for the last 10 or so movies they have ceased to be relevant.
Its like the producers go through the usual motions, hire whoever they think is the next big thing, write a song and then try and use it to hype the movie before release.
But I really don't think anyone cares anymore. Most people tend to regard them as fairly forgettable.
And crucially...its no indication of the quality of the movie either way.

Its never been. You Only Live Twice and Diamonds are Forever, both great classic songs, but movies forgetable.
You Only Live Twice forgettable? Pretty sure many will disagree on that, as will I.
And despite its flaws, I do have a soft spot for Diamonds Are Forever.
I think the original scores are one of the major attractions in these films. John Barry and others contributed a lot to these films over the years. I think there's been a decline in the last few films, and Zimmer doesn't seem like a good fit for the series. I would like to see the films get back to the tradition that Barry and the other earlier composers created.
shareZimmer's capable, but he is rather likely to turn in a score that won't fit. I recall with mild pain his score for Mission Impossible 2, which came on the heels of Danny Elfman's perfect score for the first film. On the other hand he wrote a score which worked just fine for The Lone Ranger, capped by a spectacular version of the familiar bit of the William Tell Overture all mixed with his own theme... Kind the way Elfman used the Lalo Schifrin Mission Impossible theme.
