Will it be as shit as the last few Bond films?

They were borrrring and soulless...

reply

It's looking like it might unfortunately. That would make Craig 2-3 in my book and no, Casino Royale actually isn't apart of that 2 believe it or not.

reply

They are no longer capable of making a decent Bond movie in the present day. Casino Royal was the last good one they will ever make. I won't ever watch the next one. I now know better. Sad lessons to learn. I did not watch the last Star Trek either. Also didn't plan on seeing the latest Star Wars but ended up watching a pirate copy at a friends. The old saws are ruined by modern sensibilities.

Maybe I'm just old.

reply

That was a good call re Star Trek Beyond. Wasn't a huge hater of the JJ efforts but Beyond was a disaster probably for much the same reason as these new "Bond" films - it took to much direction from the current zeitgeist rather than just being it's own thing.

reply

Have you not been following this dumpster fire of a production that's been going on for the past two years?

reply

Skyfall was awesome, the hell you talking about?

reply

This isn't reddit. People around these parts don't hold Skyfall in such high regard. So the question is, what they hell are YOU talking about? Skyfall is reprehensible garbage and every Bond fan knows it.

reply

"Every Bond fan" or just you? Your opinion isn't the majority.

reply

Skyfall fans are not Bond fans. They are fans of something else. Bourne, Mission Impossible, or M. Night Shyamalan movies perhaps, but not Bond films.

reply

That's so stupid. Lol.

reply

Right? I love installments from every era, even Lazenby's film has its merits. Treehugger can fuck off.

reply

Maybe so. I like at least half of the MI movies and most of Shyamalan's shit. But I think Skyfall was nearly pure trash. No good Bond since CR. I am skeptical that that will ever change at this point.

reply

I didn't think Skyfall was that great either. But that's still a stupid statement to make.

reply

blah blah stupid blah stupid

reply

[cheers]

reply

If I'm a tree hugger, then I guess you're just another Harlem resident on food stamps and welfare. OHMSS does not "have merits," it's one of the greatest Bond films ever. That absurd comment completely disqualifies any opinion of yours. Enjoy your Cryfall.

reply

Like you give a shit about other people having different opinions anyway.

reply

I forgot to mention Home Alone. That might be more your speed.

reply

Home Alone is a fun flick.

reply

Sure, it's a fun kids/family movie. It's not a Bond film. Macaulay Culkin would be more convincing than Craig in the role of Bond, however.

reply

They are two different films. The end of Skyfall is more akin to Straw Dogs, which I always thought the end of Home Alone was parodying.

The end of Skyfall is also similar to numerous episodes of Burn Notice.

reply

Casino and Skyfall were great.

What are you looking for? Thunderpussy?

reply

Thunderpussy would be a lot better than Daniel Craig starring in yet another get no p**** 'Bond' film.

reply

Worse. Cause they're gonna pack it to the gills with WOKE.

reply

Casino Royale is one of my favorite Bond movies and Skyfall is one of the better ones, too. The other two Craig Bond movies that've been released, not so good.

2 for 4 isn't really a great percentage though, IMO, since most of the Bond movies are at least somewhat entertaining. I don't mind them getting away from the campy approach of the Moore Bonds and the last two with Brosnan, but the execution hasn't always been good.

What I've heard about this one doesn't have me very excited either. Probably will wait to rent it on Blu Ray.

reply

Casino Royale is also one of my favorite Bond films but I also love Quantum of Solace as it is such a great 4th and 5th act to Casino.

Skyfall was great until Silva showed up. Silva was just another exaggerated Bond villain we had pre-CR. People will hate on the villain in QoS but it was at least realistic AND did something no other Bond film had ever done: It showed how these organizations got all this money to fund their schemes.

Counter that with Silva. He is in Chinese prison for years then he gets out and in 6 years he is able to get this huge operation going without anyone finding out?

Quantum was a great overall bad group and I think they messed it up by making "SPECTRE" the over arching villain. If they wanted to bring SPECTRE into the fold they should have made SPECTRE part of Quantum then had Blofeld overthrow Quantum. Instead they were lazy and retconned stuff

reply

Daniel Craig "Bond" films are not real Bond films.

They took 40 years of craft and evolution of character / films and the beloved formula and threw it away to cash in on being an imitator rather than something unique which others could only aspired to.

However, on the plus side, that does leave a huge canon of work for us to treasure and see the elevated status of compared with the generic garbage we get now. e.g. Watching the majesty of Moonraker and comparing with blandness of QoS should only serve to make us grateful for what we once got.

reply

Casino Royale and Skyfall were awesome.

The other Craig Bond films are indefensible, his set of films have acted like Yo-Yo's. Really hoping this one is as good as those and ends his reign as Bond on a high note.

reply

Not sure you were replying to me or just the end of the thread but as much as I said I'm no fan of Craig "Bond" films I'd agree Casino Royale to QoS.

Can't comment Skyfall to Spectre as I haven't seen the later. Skyfall was the final straw for me as far as watching Daniel Craig "Bond" films goes.

reply

I can tell you my final straw down to the specific scene in Skyfall. It was when Q, the IT professional, plugged a USB drive from a known hacker into a non-Firewall-ed and networked laptop without talking any precautions of any sort.

And since then the writers have done nothing to try and earn my respect back as a viewer or even to earn any of the dramatic tension. The films are just being edgy as it is the current flavour of the month. None of the drama in them is legitimately earned, this is exaggerated further by the stupid "plot-twists" and ret-conning.
