is it time to just start Remaking Bond Films?

I wanna see remakes of Bond Films

reply

For some reason I don't think we'll see remakes of Bond films.

reply

at least remake some of the bad ones Moonraker

reply

Why on Earth would you want that? Explain yourself.

reply

No. Ideas have been recycled and modernized many times in the franchise, and that's something I have no problem with, but if they actually go in the direction of making a new Dr. No as has been rumoured with Rami Malek, then I'm totally done with Bond films forever.

Films that have been unofficially re-made are:

Original - Re-make
GF - AVTAK
YOLT - TSWLM - TND
FRWL - FYEO
LTK - QoS
GE - SF

There is no reason to remake Bond films. They can make more new, original Bond films.

reply

No. But it is time to re-start making actual James Bond films.

reply

Yes, I been saying this for years, remake them as faithful adaptions of the books, set in the 1950's and 1960's at the height of the Cold War.

Doubt it will happen for some years yet though.

There was some talk of Quentin Tarantino wanting to do a Bond movie set back in the 60s. That would have been an intriguing take on the character...

reply

That certainly would!

I mean... without condoning or condemning, probably.

Fan service is pretty major in movies right now when it comes to existing characters. Marvel is the master of that. The two Deadpool movies are prime examples. There really aren't any other trends in action movies right now for the Bond movies to follow, as that's what the franchise has been known to do. The Craig movies originally followed in the Bourne footsteps, etc.

I do think the Bond series could find success in fan service. Whether it be just by bringing in more old characters, or new adaptations of the novels, is the question. Yes, they brought back Spectre and Blofeld with an amazing actor in the last one, but the movie was not good. So that's a start, but the movies themselves need to be better. That's why they need a complete overhaul one way or the other.
