Production cancelled over Daniel Craig injury

Multiple sources are reporting that filming has been canceled because Daniel Craig has injured his ankle on set. This is yet another setback in the troubled production that has been delayed for years and has gone through multiple directors, writers, and scripts. Even after weeks of filming, there remains no completed script.

Personally I wouldn't be surprised if the entire film is cancelled as these issues compound.

This is a nightmare

reply

Production postponed not cancelled.

reply

"Cancelled" is the word appearing in most headlines. It doesn't mean permanently cancelled, but filming dates have been officially cancelled.

I will still bet that the whole movie will eventually be cancelled though. Next will be more delays with the incomplete script which further postpones filming, then cast members will be leaving the set to make their other scheduled commitments (you really think Rami Malek is going to sit around and wait for EON to get their act together when he is the most sought after actor in the industry?). Bond 25 will be released before 2025 if we're lucky. The 2020 release date is a farce.

reply

It's a bummer regardless. Hope it's not delayed and that Craig doesn't go full diva on the cast and crew.

reply

He went full diva on Fukunaga just a few hours after you wrote this.

reply

If it is delayed, Raimi will for sure be the first bolt to shake loose. I'm not sure why he's endangering his sudden acclaim by a turn as a hammy villain in an exhausted film franchise anyhow.

reply

wow. why is it that everything is going wrong in production? this movie is cursed.

reply

The answer is simple: Daniel Craig.

reply

Barbara should have moved on him from him when she had the chance

reply

It's a shame that my favorite bond has now become the biggest problem for the franchise.

reply

Don’t any of you have other things going on in your lives instead of obsessing over this shit? Talk about much ado about NOTHING! Sensationalism news, otherwise known as “clickbait” That’s all this is. They put up in the title “Bond 25 CANCELLED” & all of the fanboys wet their shorts.

Nothings “CANCELLED” for God’s sake, the man hurt his ankle, give it a few days if not a couple of weeks & everything’s back on track. NO BIG DEAL!.

Now you can all go back worrying about the final GOT’s episode.

reply

The only "fanboys" I am aware of are the Craig fanboys who go to any extreme to defend him.

Scheduled filming dates are cancelled, so the headlines are not inaccurate.

I've never seen GOT, nor am I interested in checking it out.

reply

Thats BS. Nothing is cancelled. Just a a few schedules are rescheduled. Do you think SW VII was cancelled when Ford had a real plane crash?

Always this hysterical dumbheads at boards!

reply

This production should be canceled but at this point, I don't think it can be. I think there's too much investment into the production, and the necessity to keep the Bond franchise alive in general. They are gonna put something on screen even if it's an absolute turkey. I'm expecting the most forgettable film of the entire series.

reply

What gets me is they’ve made 24 of these movies. They ought to have production down to a fine art by now. How can they fuck it up so royally?

reply

Craig has a injury and in a few weeks production will be unpaused. Not that big of a deal, hysterical naysayer.

reply

If they're shutting down the production because of this injury, then either it's on the serious side, or they want to shut down production because of script problems or something and they're using this as an excuse.

Because it's possible to keep shooting if your leading man is gimping a bit, hell, Jackie Chan used to jump off buildings with his leg in a cast! But if Craig isn't as tough as Jackie Chan he can still do close-ups and dialogue, make out with Bond Girls, point guns at dots, stand in front of green screens, and put up his leg while his stunt man does the long shots (they can CGI Craig's face on later), and do most of the stuff actors do in tentpole filmmaking with his leg in a brace or cast. He just can't do his own running for a bit.

reply

He's such a diva that he flew to the US just to get x-rays. Do they not have doctors and x-ray machines in Jamaica?

reply

I've never been to Jamaica, but there are a lot of countries where I'd fly home rather than seek medical treatment there. So maybe he was being smart, not a diva.

reply

As if there isn't a ritzy private hospital for millionaires on the entire island of Jamaica. This isn't Somalia.

reply

I'm rich and famous and I can take a private jet anywhere in the world within hours. I'm not going to the local hatchet shop for medical treatment. Also, given the nature of insurance on these movies, they probably need things run by particular doctors.

reply

I wouldn't be surprised in the least if this was just a stall tactic to fix the script.

reply

The last week has been slow for news. I bet Craig's injury is more serious than they are letting on.

reply

Craig will be undergoing minor ankle surgery. Production will continue while Craig is recovering, should take take him 2 weeks. Film remains on track for same April 2020 release.

I doubt it. I wouldn't be surprised if this mess doesn't actually get released until November of 2020.

reply

The release date will obviously be pushed back again. There's no such thing as a minor surgery. Of course this will affect the progress of the production.
