New Mission Imposssible movie is definitely showing Bond up.

The new MI movie is such a Bond film. The sets and cast and designs, the whole thing. And they slayed it. Craig's Bond has nothing on Tom Cruise and co. He raised the bar to the moon. They better step it up with this new movie.

Casino Royale is still probably better than any Mission Impossible movie(Fallout giving it a good run for its money)though. It's just that Spectre was really weak and both Rogue Nation and Fallout were so above it... Bond is taking a really bad beating here. They really need a good movie now.

Bond will recover with Bond 25. it seems like with Daniel Craig there is pattern: one film is good one fails.

Casino Royale a huge hit
Quantum of Solace no one almost remembers it happened
Skyfall another huge hit, it got to the billion dollars mark and it’s considered one of the best bond movies.
Spectre failed by not being as successful as skyfall and yeah almost barley remembered. It was beaten by Mission Impossible and Star Wars took its Thunder.
So if we follow this Bohd 25 will be a huge hit.

mission impossible would be badass if it wasnt for the lame scientology fag tom cruise. i cant take any movie with that asshole in it seriously. tom cruise sucks dick...

I tried watching the one from 2015 which I don't remember the name of, and I thought it was one of the worst movies I had ever seen, and I couldn't finish it. As bad as Skyfall and SPECTRE were, I will still take a Bond movie over the awful MI movies any day.

They really have no choice. Hell, Get Smart was a better Bond movie than Quantum of Solace!

..the MI films have the best stunts of course thanks to Cruise...but that aside... the films aren't that great/memorable.. (then again the same can be said of half of Craigs Bond films).

MI1 is abit of a bore but fun at the time as it was the first one and was the big budget version of the TV show etc, 2 was flat out ridiculous, 3 is probably the best one imo as it had quite an intriguing plot and a great villain in PHS (but was abit let down by the love story), 4 had the best stunts and think is overall pretty much considered the best/most memorable MI by everyone (but its almost 'impossible' to rewatch imo) and I cant recall much of 5 & 6 beyond the centrepiece stunts and like 4 theres just no desire to rewatch them. I know 6 had probably the best reviews of all the movies but I was quite shocked at how 'meh' it was (I think Peggs expanding almost costarring role is abit of a drag on the last 3 films too).

If you think the stunts in mission impossible are good then I'm going to assume you're 12 and you've never seen what real stunt work looks like without all the ridiculous CGI. Take a look back at the John Glen Bond movies if you want to see epic stunts. In the last MI movie I saw there was a scene where even Tom Cruise's own body was CGI generated. None of those stunts are real, they are just special effects.

There are numerous "making of" videos showing the stunts being put together.

Samsung released a good 3D one for the Gear VR that puts you in the helicopter sequence as they rehearse the stunt. After the stunt, you are hanging out under the copter with Cruise as it returns to base, and he's just casually watching the landscape pass by underneath. It's pretty good. It also put you in the cockpit with him as he practices piloting the helicopter as he did his own flying.

For insurance and liability purposes, he is rigged up with safety harnesses of course which are then removed in post.

Tom Cruise is a popular actor, if not a great actor. Recently, his personal life escapades and bringing it out in public caused fans to turn against him. Yet, he still is one of the world's popular actors if not the most popular. I only bring this up because it does affect his box office. I think MI -Fallout overcame Cruise and helped propel him in being popular again and make people forget his faux pas. Comparing MI to recent Bond movies has MI slightly in the lead. Bond fell with Spectre. He rose before that with Skyfall. If the next JB movie can rise to Skyfall levels and more, then Daniel Craig and the franchise should get the top billing. I like both franchises, but am rooting for Bond.
