Bit like previous 'arty'/highbrow directors for TWINE, DAD (sort of as after Bond his career went to crap), QoS, and SF/SPEC (but Mendes was already a famous Oscar winning director and biggest 'name' director for a Bond film before or since)

Expect it'll be another dour 'arty' Bond film like those

He's a good pick. Capable and talented, but not too famous with too much baggage to deal with. Visually, the film should certainly mesh with Craig's others.

I've seen his season of True Detective. He could prove to be an excellent director, but while he is great with dark material, he will need to lighten it just a bit for Bond! Can't completely lose the sense of fun!
