Why use a sound alike to narrate?

I really enjoyed this documentary, but it felt like using someone to mimic Ebert was a bit disingenuous. Granted, not sure what other approach would have worked, but it was just kinda... weird.

I agree. It was distracting and deceptive.

Yup. I became too distracted by hearing "Ebert" say in perfect diction things like "even after completely losing my ability to talk" etc. Not sure what they were trying to accomplish...

It was a very unwise choice, in my opinion. On the other hand, he sounded almost exactly like Mr. Ebert. I was under the impression while I watched this that it was done with some type of software, but we're not at that stage yet.

He actually doesn't sound much like Ebert at all. The cadence and tone are completely different. The narrator only sounds alike in terms of the accent and pronunciation.

I guess they were treating us like adults that wouldn't get hung up about nonsense like this.
