Seriously?

How many more "men are inept at caring for children" shows and movies are going to come out? This is ridiculous. It's 2012. There are lots of very active and stay-at home fathers who are very good at caring for their kids. It's stupid that this old, tired idea is still being used. Aside from being archaic and insulting to fathers, it's just NOT funny, and definitely not novel anymore. I hope some screenwriters think of some new, or at least better ideas soon.

Trixie, I whole-heartily agree with you! Makes television watching boring.

It's not that it's hard to understand. It's the fact that's is an old, recycled idea that's completely boring.

welcome to television

The main character is a actor who has ignored his kids and now has to care for them when his show gets cancelled.

I've known this type of person in the real world. For a Nick show I didn't expect much and thought it was entertaining enough. I like that Mark Curry is in it and also Alanna Ubach from Legally Blonde.

Cheese fries...next time.

I went to a few live tapings of the show. I also saw the 1st episode on tape which they showed to the audience before the live taping. I thought it was a funny show and the rest of the audience was laughing, so I'm sure some people like the show.

Nice try MTV Networks Social Media Manager.

Wrong! I'm not even in the entertainment industry. I got tickets to the show from tvtickets.com

Oh I see. Obviously. That explains why your recent posting history is nothing but promotion and defense of this show and associated actors...

reply

Yeah, but my posting history before this show was mainly about the actress Ryan Newman and the show she was previously in called 'Zeke and Luther'. And now that Ryan Newman is in 'See Dad Run', I'm posting about that show and Ryan Newman as well as the other actors in that show. Not too hard to figure that out!

Don't let that poster get to you. Those^ are inept, lame counterblows. If that doesn't work they resort to accusing you of being a studio plant. The fact is, if you enjoy a show, and you feel strongly in your belief/opinion, you're going to defend it, the cast, and post updates to keep the fans informed. It's normal. Keep doing what you're doing if that's what you enjoy.

I happen to love this show. I like the idea of a father who has essentially been away from his children for 10 years. For two of his kids, that has been their whole lives. I can relate to the kids. When I was growing up, my dad was always away on different business trips and I never really got to bond with him. I was happy when two of his trips were so long that the family got to go. This show is about two parents switching roles and how the children deal with it. The children (especially Emily) have to also deal with having popular celebrities for parents and how to tell the difference between fake friends and real ones. I don't see any of this as a tired and worn out idea; I see it as a timeless classic and I will continue to watch it to the end. BTW, I loved the ending to See Dad Campaign. And if you think I am in the industry, you are wrong. Look up my name and you will see I am not. It is Shawn Fournier from Maryland.

People have a low entertainment level these days. Just look at all the "reality" shows and all the brain-dead that faithfully watch them.

I agree the premise of the show is simple, stupid, and way over-done.

What if someone used an idea like:

Woman's husband dies and she suddenly has to run his business. And she bumbles it at every turn. Let's have her have no idea how to use a fax machine. And completely panic when two phone lines ring at once. Accidentally pay the employees their whole year's salary in a week's paycheck. Just make her a complete idiot at it, doing things that no normal IQ person would ever do.

No matter how much we like blaming the networks, this is the honest truth. I'm going to put it in a non-PC fashion: the world is overpopulated with the wrong kind of people.

Actually "reality" shows are terrible and I can't stand them. But I love See Dad Run.

Fact: 87.3% of IMDB users belong to the secret society of cynics.

A true feminist is a person who believes men and women are equal. But many women who call themselves feminists are just as sexist as chauvinistic men.

reply

Then you haven't been around many horrible men. Just because some men say things like "get back in the kitchen" as a joke doesn't mean that there are plenty of sexists who believe that and much worse things about women.

Any woman who says things like that about men is not only prejudiced but plain stupid. No one is inherently bad from birth. And how the hell would there be anymore people if all men were castrated?! Even artificial insemination needs healthy testicles to work.

Any prejudices against people for any reason other than being a nasty, mean are stupid, pointless, and only impede our progress as a society.

I was just about to make a thread about this. You're 100% right, and as a man I got you. This trope must die.
