Huntsman' Love for Snow White totally overlooked?

So just saw the Huntsman & am really upset that in the first movie we saw a great love develop between Snow White & the Huntsman & hello he even brought her back from death by true loves kiss, yet in this movie it's like "Snow White who" to the Huntsman! WTH!?! Yes I understand she wasn't actually in the film but she was mentioned quite a bit & so should his love for her from the first film have been addressed. Just hate that all of the love he developed for her in the first movie was totally forgotten. Sorry if this I already a topic as I looked through first few pages & didn't find a discussion on this.

I never got the sense that the Huntsman was in love with Snow White in the first movie. That was actually one of the many reasons that I disliked it. For the whole movie, he's basically haunted and grief-stricken over his dead wife. Yeah, he does kiss Snow White and wake her from the dead...but that was kinda ruined because right when he does it...he says that she reminded him of his wife...which to me means, he's not in love with her, but is projecting his wife onto her. If the only reason he's sad she's dead is because she reminded him of his dead wife, to me that negates the possibility that his interest in her is romantic. I think he liked her and admired her...but was not in love with her. At least, I wasn't convinced. Seemed destined to be a rebound relationship to me.

I liked the sequel/pre-quel much better. Dark fantasy (a bit predictable), a good solid love interest...and better chemistry with Jessica Chastain(sp?). I enjoyed the movie.

I'm glad Kristen Stewart wasn't in this one because she's terrible. I'm glad they wrapped up her absence with her being sickened by the mirror and secluding herself.
