I really liked this movie but is this a plot hole...?

So Nicky's dad was the inside man on the Garriga scam. Wouldn't he have kept Nicky informed that Jess hadn't even gotten so close to Garriga as to enter his room? If he had, Nicky would've been able to give a better explanation to Garriga during the climax.

Every scene where Nicky's dad is confronting Nicky occurred in public, which would help to maintain their cover, or occurred within earshot of Jess, which could also have been for the purposes of maintaining cover and keeping Jess in the dark.

Wouldn't Dad, at the least and possibly behind the scenes, have told Nicky that Jess was a non-factor in the scam and that she'd been keeping Garriga at arm's length? It would have cleared Nicky's head of the emotional "fuzz" as well as just plain keeping him in the loop.

I guess if we believe that Nicky and dad maintained complete radio silence in private, then I can accept why Nicky had not known about a pretty important aspect of the con. But it seems like a risky thing to do when sharing info would have helped a great deal.

I'm not trying to hate on the movie, I enjoyed it immensely, but I have to wonder about this. What do you guys think?
