Somewhat entertaining, but laughable plot holes

So apparently Will and his team are the Supermen of all crime. At first, it was kinda cool to see a bunch of professional pickpockets. But then all of a sudden, they are experts at setting up football stings?
Including re-decorating a hotel, getting certain music piped into a football stadium, predicting what route a guy will drive to the game, and other far-fetched nonsense. Pretty lucrative for a bunch of pickpockets.
And for what?
Will already lost all his money. When they go double or nothing, that means Will will either owe him nothing, or he will owe him millions more. Will does not get to walk away with a bagful of money. They set up that entire operation for Will to break even?

reply

He didn't break even the last bet was for 2 million, the previous bet was a million. So putting all the loses against the 2 million won, Will Smith walked away with over 500k. But all the other bets, we're not set up bets, the high card, the bet on the pass being complete or incomplete, so what Will Smith won was pretty much the minimum amount they could have won. If he won some of the earlier bets he could have won over 4 million. Assuming the last bet worked.

It's also possible after the binocular bet they had another crazy bet that they knew would have worked.

From the way I gather Nick & Horst could very well do very elaborate schemes the dangerous the better. They suggested those schemes are not far from their reach. Horst just chooses to not try them because they are too risky that even if they can pull them off the heat would be on them and these guys don't move like that. They prefer very elaborate simpler gigs where they know there is a slim chance that people will catch quickly because they're less dangerous.

It makes setting up internet scams from Nigeria seem lame doesn't it?🐭

What's "cool" about pickpockets? The fact that people like characters like these(I know, it's only a movie), just shows how screwed up the world is. Anyway, here's to hoping you get home one day soon to find your wallet missing. Now that would be "cool".

I concur.

The movie industry likes to portray bad people as heroes (and good people as villains, though perhaps less commonly so). This movie is merely one example among many. Evil is the new good, good is the new evil in this brave new world order.

Sorry, but you're wrong. Will does get to walk away with a bagful of money. If you listen to what Will says when he proposes the last bet he never says "double or nothing", he says "double it". Which means he wanted to make another bet for double the amount of the last bet, which was 1.1 million. So the final bet was for 2.2 million and Will won the bet. That means Will walked away with 2.2 million which was twice as much as he had when they arrived at the Super Bowl.
