Did it really have to be R? I mean they could have trimmed all the superfluous language, random prostitute scene, and the mild gore and it would have worked better.

I dont see why Will Smith suddenly decided he wanted to start dropping f-bombs. I don't watch many of his movies, so maybe it's not such a sudden change, for all I know. But I always thought he was proudly against it.

Bad Boys 1 and 2 had tons of profanity from Smith.
