A case for a sin tax?

The following would be taxed by 20%:
Foods with more than 1/3 of the total fat being Saturated Fat.
Foods with more than 10% of the overall mass/volume consisting of sugar.

Raw fruits and vegetables would be absolved from this tax.

A country in Europe (Denmark?) tried that. People just started buying their chocolate elsewhere.

And such a tax would fall squarely on the backs of the poor. They seem to be the chief consumers of deep-fried whatever.

reply

Tax the corporations that, not the people.

Fat is not hurting you. Yogurt should not be taxed.

It's none of anybody's goddamned business what I eat, and the government certainly isn't entitled to more of my money based on my food choices. Screw the nannies.
