This was like a Marvel movie... that's a great thing!

This film and the two Marvel films released this year have gone a long way to saving the entire year in movies. Rogue nation borrows heavily from recent Marvel efforts and is basically a Marvel film itself. It's action packed, fun with a few funny laugh out loud moments! I know Marvel didn't invent thrills coupled with intrigue and humor but they have grown best at adapting it all together. Rogue Nation melds it all together and offers many of the same notes.

I literally laughed out loud when Hawkeye...er I mean Renner's character says to Ving... "You had to pick the 4X4" during a high speed chase! as well as certain Benji antics.

Ethan gives off a Captain America Winter Soldier vibe a lot in this film.

This was much better than any Marvel movie.

This movie was intense yet fun and exciting. Marvel movies becomes too formulaic with no tension what so ever.

Glad to read this. Saying this is like a Marvel movie isn't much of a compliment, in my opinion. I have been looking forward to this flick, though.

Solid troll attempt. Much better than your standard "terrible cgi" "worst movie of the year" "tom cruise shud stop boohoo" threads.

reply

I don't like Tom Cruise at all but I loved this movie. Read in to that what you will.

Yea, I can tell.

The only comparison with the MCU would be Capt America Winter Soldier.

I am the Alpha and the Omoxus. The Omoxus and the Omega

Yeah, I got that vibe also. Maybe it was renner? I told to my mate hey why don't he call the rest of the avengers?

"WTF is happening with my topic."

reply

Yeah, I really do think this is what a solo Black Widow movie would look like with ScarJo instead of Cruise.

Now that I own it on Blu-Ray, I can confirm that they copied the Marvel formula. Good for them.

reply

Great point. The last two are just like good Marvel Films.

I accept your surrender.

So it's mediocre is what you are saying?

If that's the case, I'll wait for it on BR.

It was like a "comic book" spy movie, and, yes, that's in the best possible sense. This didn't have any of the dark, brooding, gloomy, violent, serious tone that brings down so many modern movies. This was light and funny yet also suspenseful and exciting at the same time. And the casting, acting, plotting, editing were all amazingly perfect. Putting it above the Marvel movies, I'd say, was the extremely intelligent script with nothing dumbed-down for the masses. They expected you to pay attention carefully to keep up. They didn't repeat the same information over and over and they didn't verbalize every single character motivation. Lots of times just the looks and motions of the actors were what you had to watch carefully to follow the storyline, but everything you needed to know was there.

Colonel Miles Quaritch is like some sort of...non...giving-up...army guy!

It was better than off brands, it was very much pure Marvel which is king of content for a reason.
