Rank MI movies

Mission impossible is (for me) one of the very rare long lasting movie franchises, that didn't (don't) get worse with every sequel.

I rank them like this;

1. MI3 - I know many don't agree, but it's intense, smart and fun from the first scene, untill the end. Only problem is some over the top action sequences (but less than in some other sequels)

2. MI5 - Very good sequel

3. Mission impossible (original) - I like the dark tone, almost noir feal it has. I would put it at number 1, if there wasn't that stupid last train-helicopter badly CGI'ed scene, which ruins otherwise very deep and interesting film.

4. MI4 - Still a very good sequel, but somehow I find it less interesting than 3 or 5.

5. MI2 - To much cartonish action, not smart enough, and badly writen charactesr. It's an ok movie still.

What do you think?

So hard..... I want to put one first. It was so great in so many ways. Dark and clandestine action at its best. But III SAVED the series. II was so bad there could have never been another MI. Because of how good it is in and of itself and the fact that it saved the series and gave birth to two other solid movies here goes:

1(a). Mission Impossible
1(b). MI:III
2. MI:IV - Four and five are solid. V felt a little too Bondesk for my liking. I didn't care for the underwater scene (they do have non-metal mini respirators come on people) Hense the reason I put IV above V
3. MI:V
4. MI:II - Yikes John Woo, chill on the slow mo.

* I have Fallout and RN a tie...I think RN is probably the slightly better overall movie but I feel Fallout feels more epic and has slightly better Action sequences

3. Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol-9/10(Incredible Movie, Hard to believe they made 2 sequels better than this)

4. Mission Impossible II -7.5/10-(I consider this the weakest movie in the series, but I enjoy it more than MI1 and 3)

5. Mission Impossible III-8.5/10(actually a good movie but I just dont rewatch it often)

6. Mission Impossible--8/10(again a good movie, but not a film a rewatch often)

***I actually think GP, RN and Fallout together as a trilogy is a top 10 trilogy of all time

I saw the first Brian De Palma directed movie in theater, but haven't bothered with the rest. Artificial looking action and stunts compiled in computer. Couldn't finish the second one by John Woo. Seen the others once on television. Not my cup of tea.

1. MI 1
2. Ghost Protocol (I particularly enjoyed that the film revolved around a series of operations basically failing as planned).
3/4. MI 3
4/3. MI 2 (I've grown to appreciate this movie a bit more in recent years. It's much closer to its espionage roots now that the movies have basically transformed into a series of action flicks. I also have more appreciation of the overstylized aesthetics.).
5. Rogue Nation
6. Fallout

Mission Impossible 3 is easily the best of the series, and the only one of the bunch I think stands out as an excellent film.

Of the remaining five films, part 2 stands out for how terrible it is. It's an awful film in every regard, and far and away the worst of the six MI films to date.

The remaining four are about even. If I had to rank them I suppose I'd say 5, 1, 4, then 6.
