Did Eilis love Tony?

It seemed to me that she dated him out of convenience and that she married him, in secret, out of a misplaced sense of loyalty and to placate him, since a "promise" was not enough for him...

She didn't seem to 'want' him, or miss him... Rather she simply seemed to feel guilty about the letters and about spending time with Jim without Tony's knowledge...

It seemed to me that she chose her life in America over her life in Ireland, despite warming to Jim... Tony didn't seem to be much of a factor, specifically, and could have been any American boy...

What do you think about this? Did she truly love Tony? Or was he simply incidental to choosing America?
