The way Tony looks at her, gets me every time...

No joke, I'm a hormonal mess the moment they first show him at the dance. Last night I was watching it again, and my cheeks literally hurt from smiling the moment that kid comes on screen. The intensity Emory Cohen puts into his eyes, when looking at Saoirse, reminds me of anything Mickey Rourke circa 1980's. The guy knows how to convey a message without talking, that's for sure.

And I don't want to undermine Saoirse's performance either. I truly can feel her anxiety and pain the moment she steps off that boat at Ellis Island. I was captivated and moved by her quiet performance the entire time. Great acting--great directing--great movie!

I couldn't agree more. I'm glad you put into words what I couldn't quite put my finger on. The kid who plays Tony is amazing. I've never seen (or noticed) him in anything before, but he played this part beautifully. He just sucks you into the film, and makes you believe that he's actually in the early stages of love with Eilis. Perfectly casted! I can't wait to see him in more roles.

You want to watch him in "The OA" on Netflix. He is great.

Ooohh....the Mickey Rourke eyes circa 1980s comparison is brilliant! Two thumbs up!
