If Brooklyn was such a ' Little Ireland ' why did all the eligible young

Irish men totally ignore Eilis? Are we supposed to believe that the one and only guy who was romantically interested in a pretty girl like her was this vertically challenged Italian man...?

And by the way Tony seemed like a hell of a lightweight to be making a living as a plumber. Plumbers are usually big, strong guys and Eilis just about knocked Tony off his feet every time she embraced him. Which is a long winded way of saying that I think Emory Cohen was miscast as Tony.

This movie was boring, and your point is just another reason why it was ineffective. The broader question is: Why did Ellis shack up with the first man she met in America altogether lol?

Good God you're an idiot

Right, stalker. Because it's just not possible that two people who enjoy movies might enjoy the same movie. What are the f*^kin odds!!!!

Emory Cohen was wonderful, and Eilis went for him because he treated her like a Queen.

Gee Woodle, Space Kadoodle!

I agree with DanaShelbyChancey. It was a perfect cast.

In the book, Tony is described as short. Emory Cohen matched him in terms of physical stature. He was actually pretty much exactly as the book described, so not a miscast.

It's a story. It's fiction. Why this nitpicking?

She married the Italian guy, how is that "shacking up"?

Dumbass comment.

He wasn't the only guy interested in her. He was just the first to try his luck with her. Persistence pays sometimes...

Plus he was cute and not that short.

"What race are you? If you don't tell me I'll just...assume the worst."

He's like average height. She just happens to be taller than average, which makes him look shorter.

The worst part of working with pipes is the lack of space. So the stereotype a large plumber doesn't really make sense.

I suppose large people are assumed to be oafs. Plumbing doesn't require a lot of abstract thinking & is therefore seen as a "dumb" job. But neither of these views holds up. Plumbing still requires applied knowledge & there's no evidence that large people are stupid.
