Why did Jamie ask for words to be whispered?

It may have been explained but I fell asleep a couple times.

It wasn't explained. I thought it was some creepy way for him to "feed" off of Adam. Like whatever words he would give to Jamie he would never feel or experience again. They would become forever just empty and abstract constructs and all love and emotion would have been drained out of these words to be consumed by Jamie. Murder, sorrow, butterflies... they mean nothing anymore to him and he becomes dead inside just like a ghost.

Wasn't like that in the end of course lol.

What you said Dejay makes sense but, I have one doubt. If those words that are said can't be felt by Jamie again does that mean that in the end when Adam said love to him he stopped feeling that for Adam??

reply

No it was just a theory that didn't work out. It would have meant Adam would never love anyone or anything or himself ever again.

Most likely it's some metaphor for sex or something.

thanks for the reply , it makes sense now :)

I thought it was the opposite, that Jamie was losing certain memories, feelings and ideas about being alive and human the longer he stayed a ghost. But the metaphor for sex makes sense too, the growing trust between them and the change in intensity(at least I thought there was) of the words chosen and changing from whispering in Jamie's ear to face to face in a more intimate exchange. Maybe it can mean whatever you want it to and we're all right? :)

Wow!! I never thought about it like this!! All I kept thinking is Jamie devouring on Adam's words but this could be possible as well. But I think Jamie felt the love and the feeling of protecting Adam even when he was ghost. This is quite complicated I think . But thanks for the opinion Alliegilly. Though I didn't got how this was metaphor of sex???
