I gave it an 8. This movie had pretty much everything I expect from a James Bond movie. A gay man singing falsetto the title track. And the biggest movie explosion of all time wasn't even the climax. It was the quintessential James Bond's highlight reel. The only thing I would've done different was Bond and his girl riding off in the sunset in his Aston Martin, but it's too foggy in London.

The original writers are long gone and today we have the big summer or holiday picture. It's not necessary to put in more witty repartee or extensive character development. For example, Felix Leiter isn't even on-screen in this picture (just mentioned). Or Q doesn't have screen time to explain all the gadgets. What's more important is the big action scene even though it doesn't make sense. We have these specialist writers. It's all about the big cinematography or the chase or the explosion. I also think fewer writers make for a better story and movie. I thought this movie was a good farewell to Daniel Craig, but I hear he may have changed his mind and do one more as a farewell tour.

shareI've actually watched it enough times to see that it's not all one shot, but it goes for several minutes before there's a cut. It is an absolutely dazzling piece of filmmaking and must have been a BITCH to shoot, but it's so freaking amazing I can watch it over and over!
The rest of the film, meh.
I admit I am getting raked over the coals for asking is this the greatest Bond film, but it isn't. After watching some other Bond films it isn't. It's not anywhere near the top. It had the potential to be a great film, but some reason it got mucked up. Blofeld was played by the great Christoph Waltz so he should have had major screen time and impact.

shareI neglected to mention the train fight, tremendous location shots and a sleek new Aston Martin. Of the Daniel Craig Bond movies, I would put Spectre in the top 3 after Casino Royale and Skyfall. That said, there is some gap between those two since Blofeld didn't deliver like the big villain he is supposed to be.
