Idris Elba/Skyfall

If you think about it Skyfall would've been the perfect first film for Idris Elba as Bond. A film about an aged/veteran spy who has to regain his confidence/skills whilst proving he's still relevant in a technologically developing world.

Exactly, I don't want to see a Bond film called STRAIGHT OUTTA WHITEHALL either.

I agree wit the OP about Idris Elba and Skyfall. Unfortunately I have just read that Mr. Elba has taken himself out of the running for the next Bond movie because he thinks he's too old for the part.

I don't see why his age would be a problem as when Timothy Dalton made The Living Daylights he was in his early 40's.

IIRC, Daniel Craig was the first person under 40 to be cast as Bond since George Lazenby, and he only lasted four films - which is the problem when each production takes two to four years.

Maybe they should look for a Bond in his 30s next time, who could last to age 50 or so - the role is probably one of the most strenuous imaginable!

I've always said that the various James Bond actors earn every dollar of their salaries.

Would have loved to have seen something like Skyfall instead of "Never Say Never Again" when Connery returned for his last Bond Film and they played with the aged veteran theme.
