Bulgaria? Oh, God, why?

I've seen only a few Boll films, and just finished watching "In the Name of the King II". I hoped I wouldn't find a third one when I looked at IMDb, but lo and behold, here it is. I found the first one entertaining, the second fell flat in all aspects, not to mention the blatantly visible car during several medieval scenes. And now there's a third one incoming. What's worse, there's a lot of Bulgarian names involved and Bulgaria is listed as the only filming location. Oh, God, what has my sweet motherland done to inflict a Boll-film upon itself? I am heartbroken.
This country lacks enough good films as it is, and it's obviously only going to get worse. "The Expendables 2" was filmed in Bulgaria. Though the only really good parts of it were the hilarious insults that the Bulgarian actors used on Statham and Stallone. The third "Dungeons & Dragons" film was also shot in Bulgaria. I liked the second more...
Well, I guess I can still hope that "In the Name of the King III" will be the best movie ever.
Not that it's ever going to happen. Forlorn is my country's film-making industry... :(

Neither of the two movies were good. Did you seriously enjoyed In the name of the king? It's just bad and has no quality to it.

reply

Yeah. I sometimes enjoy watching bad movies for no apparent reason... Can't really explain why. The second one was pretty much horrible, though, and the third one is probably going to be even more cringeworthy. *sigh*

Can't they make a good film here in Bulgaria for once?

The American dollar goes a long way in Bulgaria.

[Never trust anyone that posts on only one IMDB board.]

I've most of Uwe Boll's movies, and must say that 'In the name of the King II' was one of his worst.. The 3D of the bluray was really the worst 3D I've ever seen, I even thought of just watching the 2D version or let my projector to the 3D conversion..
I must admit that I like Uwe Boll movies, at least I find them entertaining enough, but I never expect anything when i start watching them.. I've seen much MUCH worse movies than ITNOFK2..

reply

From a quality standpoint, Uwe's best work is when he is making a social or political statement and is personally invested in the subject matter (Darfur, Tunnel Rats, Postal, Assault on Wall Street, etc.), with his worst films being the ones he just churns out to keep busy (Bloodrayne, In the Name of the King, etc.).

But I agree, the man is very entertaining and I try to get all his films for the epic director's commentary if nothing else, lol.

What insults?

Do tell.

If nothing else, this movie shows how beautiful your motherland is. I really enjoyed its filming location. It has a lot of nostalgic value for me. And "Deutsche Reichsbahn" wagon at the train station? Splendid! In the summer I'm definitely going to Bulgaria.

Why in god's name have they done another one? The first film starring Jason Statham, which could had been so much better, was bad and the previous film with Dolph Lundgren was no better, no worse.

Don't worry, the US will become as Bulgaria in the years to come. As the state pays for the construction of sports stadiums why not movies. The NFL or NBA needs the money real bad. In this way the film industry can use places like Mississippi or South Dakota and employ wage-slave labor (without racism, of course). We can turn the gutted de-industrialized midwest (moved from Mexico to China) into one large movie lot. Disney, Viacom, Fox (and three others) need the money real bad. Eee go tor Bulgaria, lu u long time.

Furthermore, we can have the fed tax dollars subsidize tons of crap movies like this one. Why, oh why? Because somebody has to pay for the caprice and folly of some rich kid or wealthy shysters, or other vermin investing in nonsense. To pay for things that no average person could afford to pursue without working for/toward personal excellence. Uwe Boll takes the money and gives his cretin backers what they want. So would you, so would I.

Expendables 1, 2, 3, Conan The Barbarian and dozens of others have filmed in Bulgaria. So I don't think you know what you're talking about dinerfood.

Bulgaria is cheaper, Hollywood uses it often because it costs less. The rest of what you wrote is pure insanity.
