Sincere, Honest and Heartbreaking

This is definitely one of the films that is worth seeing. It's a beautifully made film thanks in large part to Lucas Linehan's quiet but captivating performance as William - so honest, and genuine, his eyes expresses the emotions that the character feels, making him this perfectly broken teenager.

I agree totally but I feel that Tristan Barr (Mike) is being given short shrift. Tristan is equally fine as Mike yet he seems overshadowed by Lucas Linehan because of the tragic ending. Mike takes us equally on the emotional roller coaster ride...and he makes us feel what its like to feel bullied and rejected and suffer loss. Lucas Linehan's brilliant performance is largely due in part to the fact that Tristan Barr gave him such marvelous things to play off of. It was a joint effort and both should be applauded...and reteamed for a happy ending!!

Couldn't agree more, both guys did a brilliant job. Started out a bit awkwardly I thought, but the performances from Lucas and Tristan really sold the movie and I think it's one that will stick with me for quite a while afterwards.

This is so true. I have countless gay movies in my film collection but none have impacted me as this one has. The reason? The chemistry between Linehan and Barr. Not for one single moment does one doubt their sincerity in their playing. They both play off each other superbly. I am in agreement that their performances totally sold the movie and made the impact that it did, because a lot of the supporting cast was amateurish with plain bad acting.

The annoying character of Ursula was the worst. And the woman who played Mike's mother was pretty bad too, as was Mike's "girl" friend, Jeanine.

The two men who played Mike and Will's fathers were good. The video store owner was good, as was Will's catatonic mother and the girl with down's syndrome, and the teacher was especially good.

Part of what makes this movie so heart-wrenching is because of the incredible chemistry between Barr and Linehan. IMO not even "Brokeback Mountain" had the impact on me that this little indie from Melbourne has had. I have watched it nearly every day since I bought the DVD in January and I never get tired of watching it. I was hoping that the uproar about the ending would convince the director/writer, Lee Galea, a sequel.

A sequel could definitely work because the idea is that Mike fell asleep and had a horrible nightmare and Will wakes him up and comforts him. Then they have to decide how to handle the situation with Mike's mother and Will's father. There are so many possibilities for this to go.

The movie was pretty amazing.. I didn't expect that..
Will's performance was truly captivating and i am not telling that because of the ending.. Looking forward and hoping to see him in other projects too

Agreed.

Watched it for the first time today. At first I was a little unsure and thought it may lack realism but as the film progressed I was drawn in to what is a very tender and beautiful love story.

Really touching, some of the emotional scenes had me getting tearful. The actors did an amazing job.

I just finished this film and I was hesitant at the beginning but man did they do an amazing job. Both of the main actors were very good but I have to give special props to Lucas as well. I don't say that because of what happens to him at the end like one of the comments suggested. He impressed me throughout the whole movie. He actually made me cry in that shower scene after what happened with him and his dad. You couldn't help but feel what he was going through because he was so convincing. I swear I have seen this actor before but I don't know where so I am definitely looking him up after this. Looks-wise I don't know if anyone watches Offspring on here but I swear he is either the son or younger brother of Eddie Perfect..the actor who plays Mick.
