Setting up Patty so bad its just gross..

Seriously how bad do they want her to win??

She literally turns down a temptation each week. Is it because her personality is so whiny and lame that they need to remind us she's not about taking money?

Charles never got a temptation til he was with Patty. Marty never got one at all. Dave only got ridiculously stupid ones that were easy to turn down.

She get's one every week.

Now they force her in to "face her fear" all alone in front of everyone before we vote. BULL *beep*

And why because she finished by herself with 5 sec left...could the other 3 not have finished? We all know she is the weak link. It's not like they had to go 1 at a time across. They all go together just in a line. That doesn't slow you down unless the person pulling the rear sucks...in that case I think Lydia could do it much faster than patty. Both Marty and Dave would book it across easy.

So stupid and they literally treat us like we are wild baboons.

I thought Marty did get one, but I can't remember. I know he had a chance to keep the $ after his swim.

And her finishing with :05 left still may have been rigged. I've been suspicious of these timed challenges all along (whether they have full time or partial time, it always comes down to the last few seconds. Too convenient to be true). If they had her walk across in real time, with the clock shown every second of the way, I might have bought it.

According to the Rock while talking to Patty, they DID have to go across one at a time. He also said later, it took her the whole time to cross by herself, the others, while probably quicker, never would've made it one at a time.

I guarantee you the others would've made it in time. Not just because they're quicker, but because the challenges are all rigged to some degree. Like you said, had they shown Patty the entire 3 and a half minutes crossing buildings, I might've bought it. But the way it was done, I didn't believe it at all.

I remember seeing a shot of her towards the middle of the wire with 30 seconds left. If it took her 3 minutes to get halfway there, I don't think she could've done the rest in 30 seconds. They definitely played around with the time.

As for Patty herself, I'm sick of her, and I'm sick of the way this show is treating her. OP has a point, they do seem to be setting her up to win. I don't like her at all. Every single time she's inserted herself into a challenge, it was selfish. She hasn't helped anyone in her team. In fact, she usually holds people back. It's so selfish of her to try to compete in 3 challenges IN A ROW instead of letting others take control. When she let Charles go instead of her, she was at the brink of crying and had this look on her face like she was disappointed. I don't understand what else is left for her to prove. I thought she got 2 chances already to rise up.

Every time she puts herself in the competition, it's selfish. She's not doing it to help anyone else, but to conquer her own fears. And then at the end, instead of taking guilt-free money, she took away her teammates' abilities to compete in the challenge and inserted herself into it just for bragging rights, knowing full well she was the weakest member of the team and that she was scared of heights. Again, a selfish thing to do. I really don't want to see her win.

Marty's only chance at money was his swim. NOt a temptation.

Patty gets all of them.

It seems everyone is always in agreement with the ridiculous time challenges and how over the top they are but my point wasn't just that she finished with 5 sec left. It was that this in no way implied that the other 3 couldnt do it faster.

All 3 are at least 3 times the athlete. Dave and Marty could probably do it backwards faster.

Getting 3 across doesn't take much longers since you just follow right behind each other lol.

But it's still 1 at a time not 3 following each other. One has to cross, get off the rope, then the next gets on, has to cross, get off the rope, then the third gets on.

Each person would have about 70 sec. to get across and that's assuming they stop the clock in between one getting off and the other getting on. Marty might boogie across in 70 sec. Dave? maybeee... Lydia? No chance in hell. Being "athlete" would help, but fear and balance play a bigger role in that challenge.

But you're (your) right. Any 'one' other person in the group could finish faster than Patty.

Regardless of them being probably 3-5 times faster than scared shivering afraid-of-heights Patty, they would've still made it because the show would've messed around with the time. You really think Charles did that stadium challenge in 35 minutes? Doubtful..

Was it made clear though that it would be one at a time?

That's what I mentioned in my original post because if they literally can all just go across together there is no way they go slower because Marty and Dave wouldn't clog up the line.

If they go 1 at a time yeah it is a lot tougher and lydia would need to be quick.

It was. Rock said it at least twice.

Given 3 minutes, I don't think all 3 will make it. Lydia is clumsy. She fell 3 times going down the side of the building. But then again, the show can nudge the time to change the result.

It was so obvious that Patty was being set-up as the winner that there was absolutely no suspense to the finale. Selfish Patty would complain every *beep* week about her being entitled to "her moment" when the show had already degenerated, for all intents and purposes, to The Patty Show, with the rest of the contestants nothing more than supporting players who would basically disappear for weeks at a time.

I mean, come on—Patty gets five offers during the show and Rachel doesn't get one? Patty never has to attempt a hero's challenge? And I'm sure it was just a coincidence that Patty was picked to stay home during the last challenge and then promptly received an offer that just happened to require her to face her professed "fear" of heights right before the final vote.

This show was a sham, from the fishy challenges and timing issues right down to the suspicious and grossly disproportionate screen time devoted to Patty.

reply

Stop, you're gonna make Patty cry.

Not to mention the "tear gas" she was exposed to. Ever see someone exposed to tear gas? They have swollen puffy eyes and a river of snot gushing from their nose and mouth. She was not gassed.

The show was contrived and certainly not a fair contest but so what. It had nothing whatsoever to do with heroism anyway. I only tuned in to watch the challenges and fast forwarded through as much of the drama as I could. That they tried to make it seem "heroic" to turn down money was laughable. That money was just going to be won by some arbitrarily selected contestant anyhow.

I'd watch another season but I'd fast forward my way through again if it was the same format. I am repelled by what seems to lure most TV viewers, ie. reality show drama.

Patty looked real sexy in the finally, though. Short green dress, nice legs, and looking good with her makeup on. No one "deserved" to win but a few surely deserved to lose. I hope Patty has a good time with her winnings.

reply

That's a great point...I was in the army and anyone who has went through army boot camp knows exactly what it feels like to be gassed. I have been gassed probably around 3-5 times during my time at Fort Leonard Wood and everytime the snot is gushing from nose and Patty seemed very, very calm which she got gassed in the bus. From my experience, the first time you are gassed, there is always a bit of a panic reaction because it's nothing you have experienced before.

reply

That was so evident i'm surprised people actually believed it.

No way that was tear gas. Not that i wanted it to be, or would have enjoyed watching someone encountering it, but having that on the show in such a way was just manipulating the audience. It was not tear gas, not even close.

But hey, why even bother.
