Jennifer Lawrence?

I like JL very much and I love this book. I know it's just a rumor about her playing the lead role but if she does decide to sign it makes me wonder if she gravitates toward roles that are based on impoverished women. Winter's Bone, THG trilogy, and now TGC.
Thoughts?

reply

Well, she is from Kentucky so she has those mid-western roots to play a not so fancy character.

And it's not a rumor anymore, it's confirmed.

Source?

reply

Us Weekly.

reply

Us Weekly isn't exactly a reliable source of, well, anything.
I guess I'll wait until it's confirmed on here before I believe it.

reply

It wasn't a source saying it, it was in the section where they talk about upcoming projects, births, deaths, etc.

reply

Pssst... quanahg, US weekly IS the source of information you have obtained about Jennifer being cast. Sources don't always mean a person per se.
Also, Kentucky is a southern state not a mid-western state. And just because someone is from either or does not mean they all know what it's like to be poor and impoverished. What an ignorant statement. Perhaps you should travel a bit more.
Sorry to be so blunt but you needed some schooling.

reply

Actually I (a Yankee), as well as many southerners, would say that Kentucky and Missouri are Midwestern states.

You're right about the rest though.

Hey wait
Great smile
Sensitive to faith, not denial
But hey whose on trial?

reply

As a Kentuckian, I can safely say Kentucky is considered a southern state.

The author of the book (Jeanette Walls) was interviewed on a Twin Cities radio station on 6/21/13 and she said that Jennifer Lawrence met her and said she loved the book and wanted to do it. Jeanette was over the moon at the idea of JL doing her book.

reply

I wonder if they will have several characters play Jeanette since the book covers her entire childhood.

reply

hahahahaha. Jennifer didn't buy the rights herself. Lionsgate did.

Obviously, but I did hear something about her mom, Karen being the one to suggest it to the studio (and to her daughter of course). She did have some great instincts about Winter's Bone and THG.
