No to J-Law

I, for one, am getting rather tired of Jennifer Lawrence. She wasn't bad in the Hunger Games, I must admit, but I don't know the character (I found the books horrendous and couldn't finish), but I really do not think that she should taint this character. I really hope that the rumor isn't true, and that someone more appropriate is cast.

I have no idea how she is going to play Jeanette Walls since most of the book takes place when she is a child, but the thought of Jennifer Lawrence and Destin Crettin (his film Short Term 12 is one my favourites last year)is enticing especially if he has the same touch as he did with Short Term 12.

reply

Completely agreed. Short Term 12 was bar none my favorite movie of 2013, and I'm excited at the pairing of the director (Dustin Cretton) and Jennifer Lawrence. She should bring a similar energy to the film that Brie Larson did for Short Term 12.

And to the original poster, like her or not, Jennifer is one of, if not the best actress of her generation. Her Oscar in Silver Linings was very much deserved, and other roles she's been in, like Winter's Bone and The Hunger Games, show her massive range. Although I haven't read the book, I feel pretty confident in saying that Jennifer will put forth a strong performance as Jeannette. Her pedigree speaks for itself.

Imo, Brie Larson, Dakota Fanning, Elizabeth Olsen, and Saorise Ronan are all better.

I would imagine a young actress is going to have to be cast for the flashbacks. Jeanette tells the story looking back on her life with her older sister and younger brother and sister. I hated the mother (emotionally ill or not) and cannot wait to see who is cast for that role! They are going to need a very strong actress who can play hateful, spiteful, and indifferent all in one. Katey Sagal anyone?

reply

you must be tired of life

reply

She hasn't been in that many movies. I think she is cute girl and don't imagine myself getting tired of her unless I watched the few movies she is over and over. Now Sam Neil seems to be in everything.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt.

So you haven't seen Winter's Bone, Silver Linings Playbook or American Hustle ? She's proven herself and will continue to get better what don't you get ? Tired of good acting ? Stupid reason ! Sure she's in a lot of magazines and interviews but people want it if you don't then too bad don't look.

Nov 2014 vanity fair interview with Jennifer Lawrence states "continuing Jennifer's pattern of playing tough, working-class girls who endure is her portrayal of Jeanette Walls in the forth-coming adaptation of Walls' best-selling memoir The Glass Castle, which Jennifer is also producing".

Jeanette Walls also spent a weekend with Jennifer Lawrence's Mother.
