Reminds me of something written by James O' Barr.

I don't know if it is just me, but this reminds me of the crow. I can't help but feel this film takes a lot of inspiration from Iris's story the first female crow and the 3rd or 4th crow. ( comics) ..., take away the crow and rename iris Zoe and put in Indian themes ( although one crow had that) .., although iris was killed with her unborn child.., Zoe wasn't pregnant as far as we know. Iris was a crow that wasn't really an immortal and had a problem with decaying flesh just like Zoe does in Avenged.., then there was the 2nd crow who was an Indian who was killed with his family by confederate soldiers, then came back in the future to get revenge on the soldiers ancestors , or the soldiers reincarnated. The director of Avenged had to read the crow some of the similarities are uncanny.., maybe he used ideas and rearranged them in avenged to avoid getting sued... Idk... But there's alot of similarities here.

Love the original Crow the movie, but never read any of the comics. Didn't even know there were other Crows other than Eric Draven. Interesting. The director of Avenged - Michael S. Ojeda

There certainly is strong hint of the Crow in this film but personaly I think thats because I love The Crow and I really liked this movie too. One of the stong points in the Crow was feeling like you felt Erics pain and to an extent I got this in this move too. Having a deaf mute lead was an inspired idea and I hope this movie gets the status it deserves. Bravo

I'm glad other people have picked up on this - it was the first thing I thought of, particularly the Iris spinoff. savaged was really good in its own right though, much better than any of The Crow movie sequels.

Hunter S Thompson R.I.P, we'll never see your like again
