why no subtitles?

I just watched this streaming on netflix. We used the closed captions in English, but they only captioned the characters speaking in English. When they were speaking Gujarati there was no translation. And there is quite a bit of Gujarati spoken, both when they are traveling in India and when the older generation of Indians are talking to each other or often, speaking to the younger generation as well. I felt like I really missed a lot. At one point Ravi is having a phone conversation with his mother and she is speaking Gujarati and he is responding in English. He points at the phone and says to his sister (who is being the camera), "Are you hearing this?!" And of course, I'm not understanding a word she is saying. Why didn't they subtitle the Gujarati?
