Top quality production values wasted on a meh story.... SPOILERS

There was nothing overtly terrible about this movie. The cinematography was top notch. The acting was adequate. But the way the story unfolded just didn't work for some reason. I'm trying to put my finger on it but I can't quite.

The fact that the mother had a family history of schizophrenia was a nice way to give her a reason to doubt her sanity. But I feel like they didn't do enough with that.

And the way she got stuck behind the piano when the ghost finally revealed herself was almost laughable....

And this was yet another movie that relied too much on a very typical creepy score. I would love to see a movie that knows how to build tension without using the same music that keeps getting recycled over and over.

It's a bit disappointing because they did so many other things right. It's like eating chocolate covered strawberries... the idea of them is great, and they look so amazing, but when you take a bite it's just meh.
