I'm confused. When they meet Keith Novak in the woods. When she is looking at the photos she concludes his family didn't go to Norway.
How did she know? What did she say?

Maya isn't even there and isn't even looking at the photo.
Cole is what is called an "unreliable narrator." The events are not unfolding as you see. Cole and Maya's relationship does take place while an asteroid is headed toward Earth. However, the aliens, the invasion, the decimation of life, the trips to Norway, and the encounter with the guy in cabin are all hallucinations Cole is experiencing while he lies in the basement of the hospital, dying.
I don't think the people in the picture are Novak's family. I think they are people Cole knows (possibly family), and he either hallucinates they are dead, or they were dead already before he was shot, or he creates them entirely.
Oh, I understood the movie it's just regardless of his perception, "she" noticed something was wrong with the photo. I was trying to figure out what that was.
The person who first replied clarified a scene that i must have missed, most likely when i walked away to do something, and that in turn answered my question.
