Spoiler: The ending - Not a bad movie, but worst "advertising".

Did anybody else figure out what was going to happen pretty early on, and then think the whole time "... but they can't just copy the ending of XYZ, right?", and then get suprised that they did exactly that?

I mean seriously, some plot twists are used a lot, but if you use one like this, you can't be *that* unoriginal.

It's hard to describe, because I did like the movie even after that, but I felt betrayed, especially in regard to the science fiction part.

Spoiler:
If I wanted to see a movie, in which the whole plot is the dream of a dying man, taking dialog and sounds from his real environment into the dream, then I would watch Stay again, for example - or others, who did the same.

The actors performance was imo outstanding, and I was okay with it being no SF, but I honestly suspect, that 90% of the people watching this film will be disappointed, because it is just not what they say it is: It's not science fiction at all, you don't see an attack, you don't see aliens, you don't see much struggle of survival - and in the end everything is "fake" anyway. It's a relationship drama about a couple having different ideas about having children, jobs, money, the role of the man, providing ect. How could anybody suspect that before watching it?

I totally agree with you. Good acting- bad script.
Never slap a man while he's chewin' tobacco.- Frank Underwood

Completely agree, a well acted film but certainly not scifi in the way it was portrayed in the promo material.
Reading the background it was produced on a very low budget and in a restricted time frame so hats off to the production team.

However the device employed is certainly a rehash of some much better films on the subject and whilst the relationship part was superbly acted I would have like to have seen expansion of the other plot areas, asteroid etc.

Ok so first it starts off weird and you feel like "wtf is going on" then you figure out more as you go on....

With that being said guy who got shot in the beginning he's an alien sent to make people realize and yet thesis character still holds up his humanity...so then as you figure out him and the guy who got shot are connected I believe the guy who got shot is the "alien" and he found the main character who cares enough and knows how stupid we as humans are so he confronts him, then he finds out about the "comet" in the same sense he is portraying what life out there doesn't understand if they came to us and said we are useless...in the end I think it was all a test and he's the subject cause of his *beep* circumstances...I thought this was good in the fact that no matter what happens we got to keep our "real" humanity...

Again it's a movie but still!! we don't know what's out there so it's a good lesson for us humans to remember to be real and stop out fighting!!! I love the meaning even though it's not great!

Lately movies have been wearing the story on their sleeve too much. Trailers reveal the plot twists and tell the whole story immediately, leaving nothing to the imagination. I appreciate how the movie was not what it seemed.

It's ripoff filmmaking. They tricked me into watching a film about a bickering couple. I wanted science fiction.
