Not impressed

Waste of time, the movie's about a mismatched couple fighting endlesly. Sci-FI? Couple of floating contraptions and mysterious thuds at night.

Yeah and you also think The Master is boring and hard to follow. Stick to action and horror flicks.
Good film

You're wrong defending this, because - make no mistake - Beyond (2014) is a (really) **** film. It's, like, a low-budget, cheap, character drama (or SOMETHING, lolz)

The tagline (which, btw., is totally false):

Beyond is a suspenseful sci-fi journey tracking the turbulent relationship of Cole and Maya as they struggle to survive in a world where the human population has been left decimated after an extra-terrestrial attack.

.. made me want to use foul language, because it seems that they're purposefully (?) misleading people (idk., in hopes that someone will pay to see it? :))

*just, beware - anyone who's gonna watch it. xD

reply

Well, the tagline was indeed very misleading. Especially in regard to the last few minutes.

But after all, it wasn't that bad. It was far from perfect either, but compared to other movies in that segment and budget, it was okay.

But what I really hated: the whole "cliché-solution". We've seen exactly that type of ending in more than just one other well known movie.

One part I really didn't get:
Why did the other guy hang around at the hospital for years after he got shot?

Movie sucked- the acting was great though, but, not even good acting could save a horrible concept.

Just btw., another review: "Excellent British indie drama with a unique sci-fi element".

I can't understand it.. 0k, people might actually like it - for various reasons; but, you gotta call it: what it is. Even if we disregard ALL of the obvious (for example, "[..] a unique sci-fi element" - no, it's not unique) and attempt to immerse ourselves into the story and characters - it's still a (rly) bad film, at the end of the day. :-/

[..] but compared to other movies in that segment and budget, it was okay.

.. Compare it, to: The Road (I) (2009); & it seems like The Road is a Oscar-worthy masterpiece, lolz! http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0898367/

(Quite liked it. :))

Most of the movie takes place in the head of the guy who got shot. So there will be inconsistencies and confusion. This was a terrible waste of time and that's why I'm here trashing it. Nobody should have to watch this film waiting for the 'aliens' to attack or to make an appearance. It's barely a character study as some of the comments assert! It's poorly written, muddled, badly acted and with mostly non-existent direction making it mostly pointless and dull. That sums up my experience and I bet most of the positive remarks are by those close to the film makers or film crew. It's a dreck of a movie and if it was a horse it'd be shot for being so lame!

I have to agree that it wasn't impressive. The movie could have been so amazing, but they use the 'it was all a dream' story-line. And to top it all off, the 50 mile wide lump of rock that was heading for us, some how starts breaking apart? As we saw in the movie, even if it did break apart, there would be 50x 1mile wide pieces of rock hitting the Earth.

Nah. It had a good start, good middle, and totally flunked on the end because they couldn't handle what they set up.

However, the acting was pretty good.

I agree with most of your post. The acting, however, was stilted and wooden. The very first death-defying scene is example enough to prove my point. The guy must have been on drugs to walk up to a robber holding a gun, insult him several times and then dare him to pull the trigger when the gun barrel is nearly pressing his forehead. Nobody would do that unless they were crazy or suicidal, which is exactly what I thought at first. But he was neither. I know that it was meant to set the tone of the film which would eventually paint his character as the only guy who could 'save the day' but that never happened. What was meant to make him appear brave and heroic just made him seem unrealistic and unbelievably stupid. Even if he could have somehow 'read' the robber's character during the intense altercation between him and the cashier and even if he was thoroughly convinced that the robber would never be bold enough to actually pull the trigger only an irrational man would approach an excitable gunman and call him a 'pussy.' It was too unrealistic a scene and told me exactly what I could expect from that point forward.

Yeah it was bad all around. Nothing worth watching here...

Yeah. I wouldn't take your advice or opinion about any movie or series. You have some pretty horrible ratings. You can tell that you only rate on what's popular or unpopular, instead of the actual content of the movie, or series. You rate out of spite. Try paying attention to what you're watching, if you actually watch the things you rate.
