Was A Scene Edited Out?

It sure looks like a scene was edited out near the end. When Jack's going through Christine's papers, he finds the plot with the writing on the back, writes something down on a pad and says that he has to go out and do something. But we NEVER see where he went or what it was that he went to do.

The next time we see him, he's co min g down the stairs at his apartment and asks his mother if she's ready to go to the party that he's learned to waltz for. Whatever was edited out certainly messes with the continuity of a wonderful movie.
