what a great story, great inspiration. there's nothing not to love about them or their story. the origin, in compton, blows my mind.

love the early footage. so sweet to see how they interact with their dad. and the girls' love and relationship is very touching.

and not to even mention how they are fashion and beauty goddesses of the planet earth. they are firing on all cylinders and such an inspiration.

Have watched this film several times and am repulsed at the not so subtle racism that the tennis world displayed against these sisters earlier in their career. The family support, weird at times as the parents are divorced, the discipline of each sister, and the absolute desire and confidence to be the best in the sport is more than admirable. This is an amazing story and as the US Open continues this week, the sister's story has more relevance as they are the BEST this country has produced in women's sports. All power of Althea Gibson and Zena Garrison, the William's sisters have made the sport of tennis an open opportunity for non-white girls with big dreams.

It seems like much of the anti-Williams sisters sentiment was a result of the actions of their manipulative father. The stunts he pulled (these are glossed over or completely absent from this Doc) didn't do the sisters any favors.

But, the older they get, and the further they grow apart from their father's influence, the more likable they become. There will always be a large segment of tennis fans who will never respect the sisters. This is probably partly a reflection of racism, but also a reaction to events of a decade or more ago. A lot of passionate fans have wanted to see Venus and Serena really go after one another on the court. This has never really happened, and if the sisters don't want to do this, then that should be respected. The Klitchko brothers will never fight each other, but they are never criticized like the Williams.
