Kudos to Roxanne McKee who was Lita

British actress, Roxanne McKee played the hapless, American college senior co-ed, Lita.
I have to give her a lot of kudos for these.
Roxanne McKee was 29 years old at the movie's filming and she completely convinced us she was age 21 to 22, because she looks exactly that young.
Roxanne McKee affected a perfect American dialect and mannerisms of an American young woman, especially that of a senior college co-ed.
I hope her acting career goes further and greater.

This is not Roxanne's fault but what I don't get is why the character she played was so utterly helpless and useless. She has a gun on Maynard and yet he is able to stab her in the eyes with a letter opener. In a situation like that, just about anybody else would've shot Maynard, before he got close enough to use the letter opener. Yet Maynard manages to get both her eyes without getting shot. In a fight, a gun would beat a letter opener. The only explanation I can think of is that Roxanne's character, Lita, was really dumb and didn't know how to use a gun. As simple as it is to use a gun, Lita didn't know how.

You answered your own question, respectfully. This is an old adage about self-defense firearm usage. Never point a firearm at someone in self-defense if you are not prepared - mentally, psychologically, technically - to pull the trigger. Otherwise the assailant will easily disarm you. Lita was not prepared in all three. Like all untrained, unprepared persons, Lita hoped to bluff her way by brandishing a gun. It was fairly simple for Maynard to grab the pistol from Lita and then stab the hapless girl with the letter opener. Also, it was obvious Lita had no self-defense training and preparation. Her own fear paralyzed her. But this should be no indictment of Lita. She would have been just like millions of other unfortunate victims of random violence, untrained, unprepared, and terrified. Not everyone is interested in learning hand-to-hand self-defense in our modern civilization because we trust so much to well-established law and order and competent, well-trained professional law enforcement.

Notice I wrote, 'hand-to-hand self-defense' versus, martial arts because not all martial arts necessarily train the practitioner in practical, everyday, self-defense, which is in reality, violent, hand-to-hand combat that is measured in seconds, not a mixed martial arts tournament.

I just caught the end of WT5 (last 15 min) on Syfy while flipping channels. The only reason I kept it tuned in was because of Roxanne McKee, to whom I was captivated by from Game of Thrones as Doreah. She bears striking resemblance to Ashley Williams to me.

I'll have to see the encore later tonight (3am) to see the whole thing, just to see more of her, even though the movie itself is completely ludicrous. I also wish she didn't play such a stupid college girl in this.

I mean come on, why trust the guy behind bars, who also happens to be related to the freaks she just escaped from?! Did she get into some kind of clown college? For the confrontation, I think it's possible she may have had the safety on (typical mistake for inexperienced gun users), which allowed Maynard to disarm her and stab her with the letter opener during the cutaway shot while the sheriff was outside on the street.

I just hope this doesn't affect her ability to secure better roles in the future. At least for now she's got GoT.

She especially rocked that final scene. Nevertheless, you have to be a friggin' sadist not to find this movie disturbing.

I don't think she was that convincing as an American, lol. I could here her accent But aside from that I thought her acting was pretty good and definitely liked her character :)

I thought her American accent was a bit shaky in places but I really like the actress.

I've not seen much of her work other than Hollyoaks but she was in another horror flick called 'F', in which she suffers an even more horrific fate than she does in this film.
