it really is a boring show

What do you like? I find it quite nuanced and rife with personal drama and tragedy. I guess I can relate to his signs of alcoholism and the wounds that he carries from being abused as a boy and wounded in the War. You might like Banshee, it's very action packed.

Then maybe watch something else????

I like it, it's dark, brooding, the era is interesting/a change from the usual modern mysteries, reminiscent of Christie! There is subtle humour, a bit of sexual tension, enigmatic family
and Henry from Neighbours
! I can't
find fault!

I expected it to be boring but it is anything but. Craig is a very watchable actor and plays the part perfectly, ably supported by the rest of the regular cast. The stories are far from cosy - they can be quite violent and a trifle gory at times. They cover all sorts of topics like child abuse, murder and various other crimes. They are often far from predictable and make for interesting viewing.

Simple solution then,.......don't watch it.

My wife and I both feel it's one of the best shows on TV. We think the guy playing Dr. Blake does a terrific job, as does the Chief Supt. with whom Dr. Blake went to school. Jean is a bit too tightly wound, but a great foil for the doctor. A few of the earlier ones we saw consistently had the doctor getting in trouble, and that got a bit much, but they seem to have gotten away from that, which is a good thing. The plots are always intriguing, with a good variety of situations. I have a low tolerance for gratuitous violence; this show never makes me get up and leave the room. My highest compliment is that it comes on at the same time as NCIS; my wife and I greatly prefer this to Gibbs & Co.

01. bookrdr-81482, I like the show.

02. There are too many 'happy crime shows' with happy endings. Life's not like that. The abducted person is not always found in time, nor the perp. Thus, cases remain unsolved.

03. The humour is dry, not mirthy. But, seriously, there is a show for everyone out there. It just takes a little time to find them.

04. Some one out there mentioned the alcoholism. I started noticing it more in the previous season. In these hard times, the executive producer is under pressure to come up with corporations to sponsor the budget of the show. Apparently liquor & tobacco companies only need provide a condition that writers create characters with corps' product habits. This allow advert to run throughout the whole episodes time. Don't like it, but understand it.

05. I like the character, Jean. Things are coming to a head again. Now that Blake's wife found him, he needs to make a decision who he wishes to be married to. Jean has self respect and pushed him off when he touched her. That may be the alcohol speaking (i.e. inappropriate actions and not respecting personal space). Jean will not remain in that situation much longer like that.

06. A couple of characters have left this series, but I like the new actors filling the voids. I like Mei Lin Blake, but there's more going on there.

07. Some one also addressed the darkness in the show. The truth is that most crime shows have their agents going into dark areas with torches. Why I don't know. If some one out there does know, please share. I would be interested in why. Maybe they save money on set design by keeping it dark. Annoying at the least, but common.

Only children are bored.

People who are lacking in intellect often have problems expressing themselves; those who are uneducated do not even know how to write a complete and cogent sentence.

Intelligent people are NEVER bored. And, there is no way that an intelligent adult is EVER in a "boring" situation. Adults are in charge of their lives.

You not only watched something that you considered to be "boring" but also took the time to write about it. That is really odd!

i watched 2 episodes back on in 2015. i did not like them. i found them boring. i have not watched it since. i have not thought about it since. why are you commenting on an old post? i'm glad you like it, so just watch it and enjoy it. why the need for a snarky comment is beyond me but i guess that is because you are intelligent and i am not. and i'm ok with that.

Only children are bored. Intelligent people are never bored. What snobbish comments they are. Anyway, I find it quite boring too and I like gentle crime dramas. We all like different things. Nothing to do with how intelligent one is. You have shown yourself up.

NOT SOBBISH AT ALL!
QUITE TRUE!
Only an ignorant moronic child would think it snobbish!
