Angela Bassett as... Coretta?

Not Betty Shabazz?

This is Lifetime,BTW!!!!!

By the end of the movie, Angela looked exactly like Mrs. King. Great job..

Actually, Angela Bassett has played both roles. She co-starred with Denzel Washington in the feature film "Malcolm X" in which she also played Betty Shabazz.

And also in Panther. Before this started I wanted her to play Betty because in both films she was good, but she did a good job as Coretta. One thing that I wish that they would have incorporate into this movie too is Myrlie Evers. She was also close to both Betty & Coretta.

Actually, Myrlie Evers makes a very small appearance. All three women were remarkable. (Mrs. Evers is still alive)

Yes, I know that she's in this for a short time, but I have always heard that the 3 of them were close not just Betty & Coretta. That's why I wondered why she wasn't in the movie more.

Excellent point. Actually, this film project should have been "Betty, Coretta and Myrlie," as Myrlie Evers should been given equal attention. I always thought that it was so unfortunate and unjust that minimal is made of Medger Evers' legacy. The fact of the matter is that he too was a courageous 60s' civil rights leader who also made the ultimate sacrifice who became a civil rights martyr before MLK, Malcolm, RFK and even JFK. Expanding the movie to include Myrlie Evers, making it a kindred spirit trio, would have made this a better movie.

I thought Angela would've wanted to play Betty Shabaz again since she played her in "Panther" and "Malcolm X", but I guess she wanted to try something different. I always thought actress Lela Rochon (who played with Angela Bassett in "Waiting To Exhale") could've made a good Coretta Scott King.
