Yeah, if you want your 'documentary' taken seriously....

First, don't go putting the word "communists" in scare quotes in the opening frames. Communists were actual real-life mass murderers who killed 100,000,000 people across the globe. One Hundred Million. When you give the immediate impression that you think they are "goblins" or "boogeymen," you look very much like a propagandist idiot.

Second, don't go making the absurdly vague comment that these "communists" were killed with the "aid" of "western governments." What the flying fcucuk does that even mean? Did the Swiss Prime Minister teach a handgun lesson? Did the phone operator in Athens give someone assistance in making a call to a hitman? You won't say, because you have no clue. You are making an intentionally vague, slanderous claim in the hopes that your moronic audience will read something into it that you never said.

In conclusion, you don't give a fcucuk who died in Indonesia in 1965. Sane people everywhere invite you to stick it way, way, way up your asassa.

First of all, they out Communist in quotes because they had previously mentioned what that definition encompassed. What they defined as 'communists' does not just mean what we think it means. It could have been people with leftist ideas, farmers, or simply people that were Chinese.

If you've studied your history, you'll know that western governments funded a lot of anti-communist behavior, especially around 1965 which is on the eve of when we went into Vietnam.

I think you're trying to label this as a leftist documentary, but it's less partisan than you think. It's about human nature, what they can, and how they can justify it afterward. It has less to do with political beliefs than you'd think.

Did you even watch the movie you moron? If you took the time to view the very thing you're critiquing for absolutely absurd reasons then you'd realize that the quotes around the word communists simply denotes the fact that the word was interpreted however these gangster paramilitary leaders saw fit. It might as well have been a catch all term for anyone the government disagreed with.

Does being supplied kill lists from the CIA strengthen the 'vague' comment? Idiot.

That idea aint' worth a velvet painting of a whale and a dolphin gettin' it on.

What, lie a piece of wodd shoved up the ass until death? I'll skip that sane train thank you very much. I suspect the quota of people killed by anti-communists is way higher. I suggest you f/ck off to Indonesia and live with these murdering, extorting scum. I think you belong'd there.
I give my respect to those who have earned it; to everyone else, I'm civil.

And how many Americans killed in the name of "democracy"? You sound like you're stuck in the 50s

reply

First: they put the word "communists" in quotes because it was obvious that communism was used as an excuse to execute the Chinese and anyone critical of the army. Is it clearer now? Are you starting to get it?

Second: the word "aid" probably means funding. Western anti-communist countries would have happily provided money, and perhaps military support, to countries in that part of the world that were clearly against communism at that time. It doesn't mean Americans taught them how to kill, it means there was little to no external pressure for these "gangsters" to stop killing whoever they wanted. Again, does this help? Is it still too hard to understand?

But your knee-jerk reaction is quite interesting in itself. You seem to be saying that the million lives taken in Indonesia was justified because Mao killed people in China? Or that it was OK to take these ordinary people's lives because Stalin led the Great Purge? By the same logic, if Europeans were being massacred, the "sane" thing to do would be to not give a *beep* because European colonialists exterminated tens of millions of indigenous Americans?

reply

Idiot, the put that in quotes to show how the government used it as a blanket term to kill any opposition. Too complicated for a simpleton like you, though.

You can't be that "moronic"? Can you?

Since the late 1950s, the CIA had been interested in attempts to thwart Communist political influence in Indonesia. The United States, Britain, and Australia did not like President Sukarno and wanted him out. Sukarno allegiances were too ambiguous for what has happening during the Cold War as he courted both the US, the Soviets, and the Chinese. In 1955 the CIA plotted to assassinate President Sukarno, despite objections from then Vice President Nixon. Over the next three years, the CIA attempted to subvert Sukarno by financing his political opponents and bribing other public officials. This happened until 25 September 1957 when President Eisenhower finally ordered the CIA to overthrow the Sukarno government. In 1958, elements of the Indonesian military, with the support of the CIA, rebelled against the rule of President Sukarno. This attempted coup ended in failure as had many other CIA other throw attempts.

In November 1965, another coup was attempted but also proved unsuccessful. In the same year, the leaning left government of Sukarno was overthrown in a military coup by General Suharto. The new military quickly went after everybody who was apposed to the new regime. Non-violent communist supporters, Indonesian women's movements, trade union moment, intellectuals, teachers, land reform advocates, and the ethnic Chinese were all targeted. Within a year between 500,000-2,500,000 of these people were massacred.

The U.S. were very much involved with providing money, weapons, radios, and supplies to this new government. The U.S. government along with the CIA provided death lists with names of leftist public leaders with the intents to eliminate them. The Untied States wanted the Indonesian army to go after and remove the entire grass roots base of the leftist party. It is believed that without the US financial support, the massacres would have been non existent or less extreme (as the US had bankrolled the whole process).
