Love this film so Much . But still one bit makes me Cringe

And its not meant to be in the film.
Just after Reece Shearsmith - Whitehead Trip on shrooms.
And all the double screen Imaging has stopped
the film is still in a slow Motion as Friend is walking back to the Tent
As He Does. Behind him in the far far Distance . A Glint of silver passes Between the trees on the Horizon
I can Only imagine this is a car Or a Train which was caught while Filming
Its at @ 70 Minutes 50 seconds.

It's not a moving vehicle because its movement is erratic and nonlinear and you can even follow its movement over the grass as a white speck. IMHO it's simply a piece of loose grass being blown away by the wind machine, or even a bird. Sorry, no UFO!

ps - you also see flying debris in later scenes with the wind machine.

Took on what you said and watched the film again .
When it got to the bit I questioned a Number of Friends who was also sitting with me . We all come to the Conclusion that it was a car or a Glint of sun on a Window of a train. But more Likely to be a car
Not saying this was a UFO as its not flying. But its travelling acros the track or road. Identified..
If films was Just dumb films. Then we wouldn't spend a small amount of time reviewing them would we Storm-the-dog

Well, it'd be a dull world if we all agreed, but try adjusting the contrast on your TV and you'll see that it does go over the grass. I agree that it "looks" like the sun glinting off a vehicle, but it's not. If you want to join a keen discussion about what people do and don't see in the background of films, watch A Lonely Place to Die (2011), then go here - http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1422136/board/nest/192879553?d=251474628#251474628. It'll more than make you cringe!

The "just another dumb film" is just my signature, it goes on all my comments (the markup went a little queer on that post). 95% of the time (IMHO), it's correct. But there's no need to be snappy if that really is my point of view, it's just my point of view. A lot of people on this board lambasted this film and they wouldn't have spent that small amount of time here if we all agreed. I didn't like this film when I first saw it but it kinda grew on me after a few days. Odd. It's clearly a film that sticks in your mind. There's a lot of dark humour in it that gets lost because it was sold as a straight horror. We need a sequel.

...it's (possibly) just another dumb film, get over it.

Its Not Covering the grass Or over the grass. Its Higher up between the trees. the Distance would make it look like a good 4 Ft or more over .
It you have a row of Trees with gaps Between . Its there when you see the Glint of light that Runs First behind one set of trees then another set of trees as the vehicle Is moving. I still put it down to a car Less Likely a train. But im open to either.

I like the film as it was the First of the Ben Wheatley films i had seen
And it being Unusual that it was on TV , Online and in Cinemas on the same day.
That was a cool move
Since then Ive seen Kill List and Sightseers
Kill List was a odd one. Hitmen Gangster film which turns into, Race with the Devil (1975) Or straw Dogs.(1971)

Might have to check what else is out there..

I like Wheatley Interest in Old Pagan Religions And his use of ceremonies in a few of his films. It gives it that Old folk horror film of the 70s

I think what we're seeing in the film happens every day. Like Groundhog day. I felt the action was set in 2013. they've been doing this every day for 300 years. This is my Rosencrantz and Guildenstern theory. So on different days they would see trucks and cars and busses go by. They would see planes flying overhead. If any local people went into the field they wouldn't be able to see the ghosts but the ghosts would be able to see them.

She has a kind of psychiatric cabaret. Very good. There was something about Suez.

It looks like something blowing in the wind or could be a bird.

I always find these anomalies interesting, but fortunately this one is just a simple trick of the eye. I have just acquired the Blu-ray of this brilliant film and checked out the moment in question. Reality is it is simply a sheet of paper blowing in the wind across the background from right to left and landing in the middle of the field. A moment later it is blown up again and briefly travels from left to right before the shot cuts. So no cars or trains or UFO's, just paper similar to the huge amounts that rise up from the tent when it is later blown apart.

That's actually a pretty cool theory, thanks.

One of my favourite films of all time!
