Question about 3rd Prince, daddy's concubine & Xi Guifei's sister

I just saw the beginning of Ep 70 and had to stop video playback.

The Empress wanted 3rd Prince to marry her niece. Except he fell in love with one of daddy's concubines, the one who used to work for 17th Prince, the one Huanbi got for the Emperor to take his mind off her little sister Yu Rao.

As usual, the Emperor is paranoid and jealous. Everyone loves 17th Prince. Even his ministers have suggested he should be his successor.

WHY wouldn't Xi Guifei profess to the Emperor right then and there that they brought the maid into the harem to divert his attention away from their little sister? They'd all already expressed to him they didn't want her to be another concubine. Why allow him to continue to think they're maneuvering for his throne?




Some have such a low esteem they create reasons to hate everyone else.
