Okay, I know this is a stupid question, since girls in real life wear heels despite them being uncomfortable, but why didn't Christine ever consider, I dunno, getting shoes for herself that were more comfortable?

Well, i guess the writers made that a recurring gag since we see Christine worrying about her heels many times during the movie.
I could ask the 'Help for the Holidays' writer Bob Saenz if you like, i'm in contact with him since i interviewed him for a fansite :-)

That would be cool. Yeah, it's just something that never made sense to me, why she continued wearing heels if they hurt her feet so much. But, tell him I didn't mind the barefoot scenes anyway. Summer Glau has awesome feet.

I happen to know the answer to this question, since I wrote the film. There was a shoe joke that ended up on the cutting room floor because there wasn't enough time for it. It went like this:
Christine: Gabby, I know what Santa gives to bad little girls instead of coal.
Gabby: What? What?
Christine: Women's shoes.

Summer Glau was certainly the right actress to deliver a line like that. She said in an interview around the time Serenity was coming out that she doesn't like wearing shoes much at all. She's implied it's because of her tendonitis.

Christine wasn't sure of herself in the real world regarding matters other than celebrating Christmas. She still managed to dance along with Ally at one point.
