European version of Heavy Weights (1995)?

As I watched Paradise Hope I vaguely remembered having seen some American movie about fat kids being in a weight loss camp. I looked it up, it's called Heavy Weights (1995). In the American movie, the camp is called Camp Hope. I'm sure the director of Paradise Hope must have been aware of the connection. Of course, the two movies are different in many ways. Heavy Weights is more of a stupid-Hollywood-comedy type of movie, Paradise Hope is a depressing-European-drama type of movie. Actually, I'm tempted to watch Heavy Weights again for comparison and to see if it really is as stupid as I now imagine.
