Question about Quiet

Hello,

I've just unlocked Quiet as a buddy so I am still early on in the game so if anyone can answer my following question with as little SPOILERS as possible that would be great. Also, if you haven't started the game yet my question may contain a SPOILER.

In the prologue at the hospital, Quiet can be seen trying to kill Snake. She is subsequently dispatched of etc and you continue on. I have just realized however, that shouldn't Snake have recognized her upon encountering her at the boss battle? He just acts as if hes never seen her before, but I'm sure he got a clear look at her face as she tried to kill him in the hospital?

He does knows, he had the chance the kill or take her to mother base. He took her and befriended her instead.
